    SUMMARY Position is responsible for a variety of functions within the finance and accounting department. Primary responsibilities will be around financial analysis and reporting, general ledger accounting, and forecasting and modeling. Incumbent must be able to effectively interact and communicate with guests, front line employees, operational supervisors and managers, senior executives, resort ownership and third-party business partners. An understanding of the economic, regulatory and social factors that affect business operations in the outdoor recreation and hospitality industry is essential.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The position is primarily responsible for financial analysis and reporting and general accounting. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    1. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the preparation, compilation, distribution and analysis of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports.
    2. Responsible for ad hoc financial reporting and analysis.
    3. Responsible for working with operational supervisors and managers to coordinate and complete financial variance analysis.
    4. Responsible for maintaining rolling financial projections and forecasts, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts.
    5. Must be competent in full cycle General Ledger Accounting, including revenue and receivables, accounts payable, payroll, period end close, and financial statement preparation and presentation.
    6. Assist with internal control testing and documentation.
    7. Research current and future accounting pronouncements and evaluate the impact on the Company. Assist with the preparation of relevant financial statement disclosures.
    8. Responsible for coordinating semi-annual financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
    9. Responsible for analysis, modeling and forecasting for capital projects, business development projects, and business acquisitions and divestitures. Position will require the use of a variety of modeling techniques including discounted cash flow analysis, Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), scenario analysis, and other relevant techniques.
    10. Position requires a comprehensive understating of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and their application.
    11. Develop and research complex tax strategies and assist with tax compliance and filings, including the preparation of year-end tax forms.
    12. Assist with contract review and negotiation. Requires a fundamental understanding of business and contract law.
    13. Assist with annual and quarterly regulatory filings.
    14. Must be able to assess and quantify both operating and financial risks.
    15. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
    16. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
    17. Ability to perform all work tasks with the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
    18. Flexible working hours including weekends and holidays during operating seasons.
    19. Job sharing in other departments throughout the resort is required for all our positions.
    20. Other duties as assigned.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY

    2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
    3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
    4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
    5. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of self or others.
    6. Drive in accordance with the law and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort policies.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration required. CPA or CMA certification preferred.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to efficiently present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    The ability to complete mathematical functions including, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division is required. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight, measurement, volume, and distance.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve complex and practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Must work under pressure and meet deadlines. Flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to deal with confidential materials professionally. Ten key and personal computer experience required.
