Summary of Job Description
The Financial Director is responsible for the long-term financial health of Peregrine School. This position establishes strategies, oversees the financial operations, produces accurate reports, and evaluates current operations to increase efficiency. This position also works closely with the Board and school leadership to ensure that the mission, philosophy, and values of Peregrine School are supported. This position reports to the Administrative Director. 

Responsibilities
General Duties

• General bookkeeping, including but not limited to
  • Record transactions accurately
  • Manage accounts payables and accounts receivable, e.g., tuition
  • Follow-up on outstanding accounts
  • Perform bank reconciliation
  • Conduct checks and balances on GL accounts
• Monitor cash flow and financial transactions, including departmental budgets     
• Direct financial planning and strategy
• Prepare forecasts
• Prepare budgets, e.g., annual and departmental
• Oversee audit and tax functions
• Develop and implement fiscal policies, e.g., employment agreements, admissions agreements,
• implementation of state and federal labor laws
• Manage internal controls
• Review and negotiate vendor contracts
• Oversee all communication pertaining to school finances
• Perform general clerical duties, e.g., filing, photocopying, and faxing
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Development

• Collaborate with school leadership on development efforts
• Support fundraising efforts, e.g., record donations, issue tax receipts and thank you letters

Leadership

• Work with school leadership and the Board to set strategic goals for the school
• Work with school leadership on policy setting and understanding operational impacts
• Present financial updates to the Board
• Chair the Board appointed Finance Committee

Qualifications

• College degree in accounting or related field required
• Three years or more bookkeeping experience
• Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks
• Acute attention to detail
• Proficient at data entry
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels and provide a high level of customer service
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues
• Good judgment, with the ability to make sound decisions and to ask for guidance as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Works well in a busy, dynamic environment 
• Ability to use information, computer technology, and standard computer programs such as the Windows operating system, Microsoft Office and Google Suite
