Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management the Director of Financial Aid will be responsible for implementing the University's financial strategies and leading the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office.
The Director communicates and collaborates with the Vice President for Enrollment Management to develop best practices and approaches for aid and student employment policies.
The Director will lead a service-oriented team of professionals who partner with offices across the University including Undergraduate Admission, Athletics, Student Services, and Campus Ministry.
The ideal candidate will have strong initiative and consistently dependable judgement in assuring compliance with Federal and State laws and policies as well as Wheeling University’s policies governing the confidential financial information of students.

The Director of Financial Aid performs the following duties and responsibilities:
Oversee the (undergraduate and graduate/professional) financial aid program for Wheeling University;
Provide clear direction and oversight of Financial Aid to achieve goals aligned with the strategic directions of Undergraduate Admission and Wheeling University more broadly, which includes budgeting, planning, and staff leadership and development;
Coordinate maintenance and updating of the Policy and Procedure Manual;
Lead an efficient, effective, and collaborative work culture;
Create a student and family focused service model that fosters transparency, problem solving, and provides opportunities for financial aid education;
Manage a small caseload of key University constituencies; and
Represent Wheeling University at state, regional, and national conferences and to other external agencies and groups.
The successful candidate will be innovative and collaborative with excellent leadership and team-building skills. They will have demonstrated success and relevant experience in higher education.

Bachelor’s Degree

Five years of related experience and / or training. Minimum of one year direct experience in higher education financial aid.
