Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Financial Reporting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. In this role, you will work closely with counterparts across the business and corporate functions to support the delivery of financial accounting results and strategic initiatives . You will also be responsible for ensuring that appropriate controls and efficient processes are employed. The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site. What you can expect Support quarterly financial accounting and reporting requirements (GAAP, STAT, SEC) for Prudential’s Insurance businesses. Demonstrate a firm understanding of traditional close activity inclusive of reconciliation, general ledger and applicable financial statement processes. Support special projects and initiatives; work with business management on strategic initiatives, including reinsurance. Demonstrate strong understanding of Insurance & Investment Accounting and Reporting (GAAP and STAT) concepts; candidate should also demonstrate insurance product familiarity. Lead newly established leadership team and drive the development of new team capabilities including transaction implementation, close execution and financial analytics. Oversee ~50 person organization; organization includes ~20 local and ~30 off-shore employees. Conduct research and document issues and conclusions for specific accounting matters that arise within the business. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key functional areas including the Insurance Business Finance and Accounting Teams, Accounting Policy, Treasury, Financial Reporting and FACT among others. Coordination of certain quarterly close control requirements. Support ad-hoc senior management deliverables. What you'll need CPA or MBA Big 4 accounting experience Accounting advisory/research skills and sox controls experience Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior business and finance management Strong analytical skills with a close attention to detail The ability to succeed both independently and as a part of the team Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines, while also managing a team.
