Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Financial Reporting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • Essential Functions and Responsibilities• Manages/oversees the accounting department to ensure optimal efficiency of financial operations• Directs or prepares all financial reports, ledger reviews and forecasts according to the established schedule, for distribution of operational information necessary to assist management in decision-making and budget preparation processes• Oversees preparation of, interprets and analyzes monthly financial statements and presents to management• Monitors revenues/expenses and ensure accurate recording of information• Compiles financial data related to operations, investigate and critique variances from expectations to determine cause and recommend appropriate management response to insure attainment of financial objectives• Completes monthly reconciliation and scheduling of all balance sheet accounts by each entity• Establishes and oversees /audit all internal financial controls to include purchasing, cash handling, receipts, disbursements, expendable/fixed asset inventories, payroll and employee records to insure policies are enforced• Ensures the proper utilization, maintenance and periodic upgrading as required of all EDP systems and equipment• Assists the Chief Financial Officer with the development of the annual financial plan• Assists departments in the preparation of their respective budgets• Maintains files, pertaining to and ensuring compliance with, insurance policies, all contracts and legal agreements• Ensures proper, timely payment of fees for licenses, permits, regulatory contracts and insurance, and all taxes • Coordinates various departmental meetings in order to maintain effective working relationships with operational departments and staff• Works with HR department to coordinate insurance payments, workers comp claims, and compliance• Works with Controller to complete year end financials for tax• Directs cash management activities to ensure the proper use and timely availability of funds• Conducts/oversees daily audits of individual stores and reports timely on variances• Interviews, selects, trains, appraises, coaches, counsels and disciplines accounting personnel • Oversees Compliance Manager to ensure that all food service permits, business licenses and everything needed to operate the individual stores are completed timely• Evaluates individual employee performance, determines areas in need of improvement or requirements for advancement, establishes goals, objectives and training needs required to achieve same• Other duties as assignedEducation and Experience• Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting/Finance• Minimum 10 years of experience in QSR or Hospitality Knowledge, Skills and Abilities• Extensive knowledge of computer-based ERP system and ability to lead ongoing training• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software operating systems and applications with extensive knowledge specifically of Microsoft Excel• Ability to assemble, analyze, understand and present integrated spread sheets and complex technical information to all levels of management• Organization/prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines• Effective management, leadership, organizational and communications skills• Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
