About Us: Benetech is a leading provider of Benefits and HR administration located in the Capital Region of New York. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team as a Staff Level Finance/Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong financial background to contribute to the success and growth of our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support decision-making processes.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and compliance standards.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
- Assist in year-end tax preparation with Controller and auditors.
- Assist in internal auditing and writing of processes and controls relating to SOC 1 compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field.
- Five years of relevant work experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as CPA.
- Experience in professional service organizations (i.e.- insurance, IT, service etc.)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software
- Familiarity with SOC 1 testing.
