    Job Description

    Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President (AVP), the Director is responsible for supervising major programs, including but not limited to the Return of Title IV, Verification, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), Direct Loan Program, Scholarships Program, Client Services and federal and state grant and employment programs in the Financial Aid Office. The position presides over the office's day-to-day and overall operations by overseeing the management of units within the office. The Director works with the AVP in planning, developing, compliance and administering the overall financial aid operations.

    The Director supervises and motivates a team of Assistant Directors and carries out the vision and mission of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) while externally facilitating exemplary service to CSN student and families. The Director is responsible for maintaining compliance by analyzing data and preparing financial reports as necessary and regularly auditing financial aid procedures, practices, documents, and operations to best administer financial aid and assist in funds management. The position will represent the CSN and the Office of Financial Aid at the state, regional and national levels.

    The Director will monitor federal and state regulatory changes and provides suggestions to the AVP for improving regulatory compliance, assist the AVP in the preparation of funding requests, and all federal, state, institutional, and outside agency reports and assist the AVP in preparing written publication materials used for recruitment, website, and other sources as requested. The position will serve on departmental, division, college wide, NSHE committees and perform other duties as assigned.

    In the absence of the AVP, the Director will provide leadership and direction for the Financial Aid Office, represent the AVP and serve as a primary resource to internal and external stakeholders.

    The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Knowledge in PeopleSoft or similar Enterprise level software administering financial aid.
    • Analytical techniques and deductive reasoning to review complex datasets for federal, state, and institutional reporting requirements.
    • Ability to supervise and direct financial aid staff in a professional manner.
    • An understanding in planning, developing, compliance and administering the overall financial aid operations.
    • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey conflict resolution and coaching skills.
    • Ability to collaborate and work successfully with a diverse and varied group of employees and/or student population.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in student personnel, counseling, business, or related field from a regionally accredited College/University; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • At least 4-5 years of progressively increased financial aid administrative experience, to include 2-3 years of supervisory experience.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in student personnel, counseling, business, or related field from a regionally accredited College/University.
    • Experience working in a community college setting.
    • Knowledge in PeopleSoft or similar Enterprise level software administering financial aid.

    Minimum Starting Salary Range information:

    Administrative Faculty D

    The minimum starting salary is $83,340. The successful candidate may be placed above the minimum of the range based on education and experience.
