Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Job Overview:
The Director of Finance is responsible for overall operations of finance department, including review of state and federal regulations, monthly financial statements, monitoring of accounts receivable, coordination of the annual budget and serving on committees related to fiscal/billing issues. The Director of Finance works directly with the President, Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Executive Directors and Directors to render assistance in matters of a financial nature.
