Field Superintendent - Construction oversees the daily construction activities of contractors, foremen, and workers at a work site to ensure projects follow schedules. Coordinates the procurement, delivery, and placement of materials and equipment on-site as required to execute each phase of a construction project. Being a Field Superintendent - Construction follows construction schedules and monitors daily and weekly progress to ensure project milestones are achieved. Troubleshoots any issues involving workers, contractors, safety, quality, changes, or processes and expedites solutions to keep the project on track. Additionally, Field Superintendent - Construction directs or conducts inspections to audit the quality of workmanship and materials and compliance with specifications and standards. Completes the required status, change, or timekeeping reports. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a project manager. The Field Superintendent - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Field Superintendent - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Fortunato Construction is looking for an experienced field superintendent to join our team of expert construction managers. The successful candidate must have a minimum 5 years of relevant commercial construction field experience, excellent work ethic, and a "whatever it takes" attitude towards solving problems.
This position requires travel through out the northeast. Our projects are fast paced and require an energetic person for the position. The successful candidate will be on site daily supervising safety, layout, coordination, planning and scheduling of work. Knowledge of all construction trades and strong plan reading skills are required. OSHA Certification is required. Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. A bachelors degree in related field is preferred but not required.
