Field Service Director manages field service personnel to provide effective on-site support and technical assistance with various products or equipment. Plans and oversees installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of products/equipment to ensure proper function and maximize uptime. Being a Field Service Director oversees the scheduling and training of field service representatives. Handles service contracts and directs support services. Additionally, Field Service Director develops methods, guidelines, and policies to facilitate efficient service delivery. Reviews service reports to monitor service performance and enhance customer satisfaction. Ensures all customer issues are satisfactorily resolved, utilizing engineering, manufacturing, and other teams as needed. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Field Service Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.       Douglas ESD is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Special Education Director. This position acts as the regional contact for Special Education services for school districts within Douglas County. It is a full-time position working 230 days per year, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

      STARTING SALARY: $97,623 - $110,952 per year

      JOB SUMMARY: The Special Education Director will provide leadership and visions for the Special Education Department and is responsible for the efficient, effective management of all aspects of the department including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of services.

      DUTIES:
      This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, or functions associated with the job. Full job description is attached in Applicant Tracking.
      • Establishes and maintains effective communications in an effort to keep school districts informed of the activities and needs of the program, the ESD and its services, local and regional or state and national issues and resources. Attain a collaborative working relationship between the districts and Douglas Education Service District.
      • Administers, coordinates, and supervises programs to assure compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations and assists in preparation of state and local reports on designated reports and/or grant writing. Direct the operation of school age programs related to Special Education for children Birth through age 21.
      • Attend meetings across the region to gather input and disseminate information regarding the EI/ECSE program to school personnel, parents, the Board, and other districts for the purpose of understanding of the programs.
      • Oversees and is responsible for grant-funded programs, including reporting requirements.
      • Point of contact for all questions and concerns for Region 3 (Southern Oregon) for all five (5) county early intervention and early childhood programs.
      • Support districts with 504 guidelines.
      • Supports the organizational goals established by the Superintendent.
      • Develop and implement a continuing strategy to design, evaluate and redesign as needed, aimed at Special Education Services for school districts and other partners/agencies.
      • Develops budget recommendations and provides expenditure control on established budget for designated programs. Ability to perform work with high financial responsibility and make effective use of available resources.
      • Provides professional development and instructional leadership to special educators in meeting the needs of students.
      • Prepares documentation and reports data to the Oregon Department of Education for the purpose of providing written support, conveying information, and complying with Federal and State regulations.
      • Perform highly complex and confidential communication with staff, partner districts and other professionals.
      • Ability to demonstrate strong decision-making and able to make tough decisions.
      • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to and from school locations in the Douglas ESD service area and may be required to travel on overnight assignments.

      EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
      • Master’s degree or equivalent in Special Education. (The Superintendent may accept equivalent training and experience in lieu of a Master’s degree.)
      • A current Oregon administrator’s license or eligibility to obtain the licensure.
      • Minimum of five years’ successful experience managing special programs in a highly service-oriented organization.
      • Thorough knowledge and understanding of special education law, current special education trends and best practices, instructional methods, and effective student/classroom management.
