Department Overview: Commonpoint Queens Resettlement & Integration Department at “The Hub” consists of initial resettlement, social integration and employment services programs serving refugee and other humanitarian migrant populations. The R&I Department has locations in midtown Manhattan and Elmhurst, Queens.

POSITION SUMMARY

Commonpoint Queens seeks an Employment Coordinator, USARA to provide employment services to Ukrainian humanitarian parolees (UHPs) served by Commonpoint’s Ukrainian Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) program. Through assessment, enrollment, employment preparation, job placement, post-placement services and outreach to employer partners, the Employment Coordinator provides support to Commonpoint Queens’ clients as they achieve self-sufficiency through USARA. The Employment Coordinator reports to the Program Manager, USARA Employment Services. Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian is strongly preferred. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Undergoes in-depth training on USARA program guidelines and procedures, the Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program eligibility and process, as well as programmatic requirements of Commonpoint Queens’ other UHP-serving resettlement programs.
• Conducts employability assessments with clients to determine eligibility for USARA and other employment programs, as well as to assess clients’ skills, education and career goals.
• Enrolls eligible clients in USARA, conducts USARA intake and orientation, develops self-sufficiency plans, pre-employment and post-employment budgets.
• Provides employment preparation services, including but not limited to: holding discussions regarding requirements for the job(s) the participant will be seeking based on their experience, educational background and work history; creating resumes; developing interviewing skills; providing job coaching and counseling to enhance participants’ employability.
• Provides job search assistance to each USARA participant; reaches out to employers in search of jobs that match the participants’ skill sets and backgrounds and comply with program requirements; teaches participants to conduct job searches online and through networking; provides job application assistance. 
• Facilitates access to short-term vocational training and ESOL classes for USARA participants as needed for client employability.
• Facilitates job interviews for USARA clients and follows up with clients and employers to receive feedback and confirm interview outcomes; works with clients to address weaknesses identified through the follow-up process.  
• Provides post-placement employment support and on-the-job coaching to ensure clients’ continued employment. 
• Conducts frequent initial outreach to potential employer partners, from small businesses to corporations; continuously cultivates relationships with existing employer partners to facilitate job placement of Commonpoint’s job-seeking clients.
• Verifies and documents clients’ employment; gathers proof of participants’ self-sufficiency as required.
• Documents all provided USARA services via case noting and uploading supporting documentation required by USARA in the online database (BIN); maintains individual client files as required by USARA.
• Coordinates with USARA Outreach & Intake Coordinators and Case Managers to ensure smooth client enrollment and comprehensive service delivery.
• Liaises with and makes internal referrals to Commonpoint’s volunteer services program and staff, as needed.
• Generates statistical and other USARA reports as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
• Background in social services/humanitarian work; experience in economic inclusion/workforce development services strongly preferred.
• Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian strongly preferred.
• Existing relationships or ability to quickly build relationships with employers who have hired refugees, SIVs, asylees, humanitarian parolees and other humanitarian migrants strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of successful job placements and client job retention strongly preferred.
• Excellent resume writing skills.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task several urgent projects in a fast-paced environment. 
• Lived experience as an immigrant, refugee, asylee, parolee or special immigrant visa holder (SIV) highly valued.
• Excellent computer skills, including experience with Google applications (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Docs, Sheets, etc.), Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
