Family Support Counselor identifies and coordinates the delivery of support programs and solutions for families in crisis to meet their financial, educational, social, and emotional needs. Interviews families to assess needs and their eligibility for assistance programs and services. Being a Family Support Counselor helps to navigate the application process and outlines the requirements and benefits of programs or services. Advises about types of counseling services available and makes referrals to service providers. Additionally, Family Support Counselor may require a bachelor's degree in human services related field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Family Support Counselor work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Family Support Partner
  • Home Base Collaborative Family Counseling
  • Manchester, NH FULL_TIME
  • Eligible to work with families receiving Child Health Support (CHS) services, and to provide family skills support to families receiving Individual Service Option (ISO) services.

    Duties:

    • Coach parents on emerging skills during visits
    • Supervise and document developing skills, as well observed opportunities for growth and additional skill development
    • Support families in connecting to long-term community resources
    • Provides psycho-educational services on family related matters, such as: child development, parenting, life skills, home management, personal problem solving and accessing community services as appropriate.
    • Provides necessary transportation and supervision to facilitate family visitation
    • Maintains necessary assessments and documentation in accordance with agency and funding source requirements.
    • Participates in all required meetings, including court hearings

    • Completed high school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years’ experience working with families OR
    • Completed associates degree in a related field plus 2 years’ experience working with families OR
    • Completed bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • Previous experience in child welfare, childcare, or related field preferred.
    • Must have own vehicle, current Driver’s License, mobile insurance with 100,000 / 300,000 coverage, and a valid vehicle registration and inspection
    • Strong understanding of child development, family life skills, behavioral health, and trauma-informed care.
    • Ability to interact effectively and collaborate with families, colleagues and other professionals.
    • Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural differences
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Computer and database skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
    • Must be cleared via Criminal Background and Driving History review upon hire

    Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
