Facility Maintenance Technician jobs in Alaska

The Facility Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Performs skilled maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other physical structures. Being a Facility Maintenance Technician recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required. Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools. In addition, Facility Maintenance Technician assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to improve facility efficiency and work flow. Oversee and review the work of lower-level technicians. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to supervior or manager. Being a Facility Maintenance Technician works under moderate supervision. Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Working as a Facility Maintenance Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.     Responsibilities

    The Role

    The Facilities Technician is a skilled role that is responsible for maintaining and repairing various areas of our facility, which includes basic refrigeration, HVAC, basic mechanical motors, painting, carpentry, etc. The right candidate will also assist in all general building maintenance including but not limited to electrical and plumbing repairs. This position is accountable for paperwork to ensure the highest safety practices for the warehouse, preventative maintenance of the entire warehouse including forklifts, machinery, and miscellaneous projects. All Charlie’s positions require the ability to provide clear and timely communication when necessary.

     

    Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To

    • Perform daily tasks as assigned by supervisor. 
    • Assist with executing the facility preventative maintenance plan.
    • Perform mechanical and refrigeration duties.
    • Maintain building and machinery maintenance.
    • Maintain the facility grounds including lawn care and snow removal.
    • Communicate when repairs will require third party contractors.
    • Attend monthly safety meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience

    At least one (1) or more years’ experience in General Maintenance.

    Industrial Maintenance (mechanical and/or refrigeration) is highly preferred. 

     

    •  Ability to plan in detail.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Proficiently read, write, and comprehend English.
    • Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment and consistently meet tight deadlines.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic HVAC issues as well as basic electrical and mechanical problems.
    • Ability to coordinate with contractors when necessary
    • Must be able to read and interpret written user manuals/repair guides. 
    • Requires prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stooping.
    • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions and lift, push and pull 75lbs.
