FACILITIES SUPERVISOR supervises and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance and support of buildings, grounds, and facilities systems. Oversees staff installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management. Being a FACILITIES SUPERVISOR tracks work orders and ensures work follows established service and quality standards for completion. Schedules and supervises preventative maintenance, painting, or carpentry projects. Additionally, FACILITIES SUPERVISOR maintains a safe and effective working environment that complies with regulations and laws. May coordinate work to be completed by contractors and skilled trades. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager. The FACILITIES SUPERVISOR supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a FACILITIES SUPERVISOR typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Posting SummaryUnder the supervision of the Zone Facilities Unit Supervisor, performs general repairs, maintenance, construction and refinishing of building components, systems, furnishings and equipment for Residential Life. Provides functional supervision of summer temporary maintenance staff and maintains a good working relationship with staff and residents. Operates University vehicle in performance of work tasks. Works in cooperation with residential education staff to support the individual development and community building efforts for all student residents, supporting and promoting a safe and healthy community life for people of all races, colors, religions, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, disabilities, and ages.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)High School diploma and three years related experience required to include general maintenance and/or carpentry. Familiarity with finish carpentry tools and machines. Ability to lift 50-75 lbs. required. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain. Ability to complete 16-hour asbestos awareness training and State of Vermont Essential Maintenance Practices training.
Desirable QualificationsExperience reading blueprints and maintenance and operations manuals highly desirable. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment highly desirable.
