Conducts evaluations of current facilities to assess short-term and long-term space needs and produce feasibility studies. Being a Facilities Planner prepares and reviews designs, layout plans, specifications, and standards that comply with building regulations, industry best practices, and organizational requirements. Estimates costs for labor, materials, and services. Additionally, Facilities Planner generates, monitors, and updates project plans and timelines with task details, deliverables, and status updates. Coordinates construction and installation processes and expedites delivery of materials required by projects. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Facilities Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. About the role:
The Campus Planner / Researcher supports the Senior Program Manager for Facilities Planning and Programming in the Division of Campus Planning. The work requires computer proficiency, the ability to be an effective part of a cohesive team, strong analytical skills, the ability to execute complex tasks with minimal oversight, and strong communication skills with both professional and non-professional staff, researchers, instructors, and students. This position will perform a wide range of tasks to support the development of projects assigned to Campus Planning. Assigned tasks will be a wide range of work that help define the scope and budget for renovations and new construction of campus facilities and infrastructure. Project sizes will vary from small lab renovations to defining large building projects in preparation for issuing RFPs in selecting architectural firms to implement buildings and master plans.
