Facilities Planner plans building or refurbishment projects focused on effectively utilizing spaces and resources to support the organization's physical facility and space needs. Conducts evaluations of current facilities to assess short-term and long-term space needs and produce feasibility studies. Being a Facilities Planner prepares and reviews designs, layout plans, specifications, and standards that comply with building regulations, industry best practices, and organizational requirements. Estimates costs for labor, materials, and services. Additionally, Facilities Planner generates, monitors, and updates project plans and timelines with task details, deliverables, and status updates. Coordinates construction and installation processes and expedites delivery of materials required by projects. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Facilities Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Specialists in food facilities. Focus on operational efficiency. Material handling studies to properly size and configure processing and storage areas. Site search, evaluation, and selection services. Fluency in food safety best practices. Fluency in food process engineering and utility infrastructure. In-house architecture, engineering, and construction. Understanding of process flow, adjacencies, and material balance. Value engineering. Open book pricing. A history of delivering high 6 figure utility company rebates. A history of delivering projects ahead of schedule and under budget.
Responsibilities:
Define project program requirements. Assist in developing project layout. Estimate project cost. Prepare preliminary subcontractor scope of work. Secure preliminary subcontractor pricing. Prepare scope of work / proposal to Owner. Negotiate contracts. Network within the food industry and attend trade shows.
Qualifications:
BSE - IE, ME, EE, ET or related.
3 years’ construction planning of food / beverage or Pharma manufacturing facilities.
1 years’ Technical Sales, desired.
Previous Process, Project, Industrial, Mechanical, Facility, Maintenance or Production Engineering, desired.
Understanding of food processing design, flow, and processing equipment.
Basic utility requirements and food safety design and procedures.
Understanding of general contracting.
Quantity take-offs of materials needed for estimates for project completion.
Experience writing proposals, negotiating commercial agreements, trouble-shooting customer issues.
Experience with Revit, AutoCad, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Microsoft Publisher is a plus.
Projects are throughout the US. Travel: 3 nights a month.
Salary Range: $115 - 130K, Bonus Range based on Project Profitability $10-180K, 50% of health and dental paid by company, Life / Disability, Company match first 3% of salary dollars of 401K, Home Office, $500 Monthly Car Allowance, gas card, travel expense and vacation.
