Facilities Manager manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Manager monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Manager trains supervisors and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Position: As the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of Coreshell’s facilities. This individual will manage and oversee all aspects of the facilities including safe operations, hazardous materials management & disposal, coordinating with the landlord and other external stakeholders on facilities equipment and systems, routine and preventative maintenance, among others. In addition, this individual will maintain and operate Coreshell’s safety standards in accordance with industry standards and local and federal regulations.
     

    Core Responsibilities:
    • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the production facility and general office areas, ensuring operational excellence and efficiency.
    • Safety and Compliance Leadership: Lead and coordinate all safety protocols with a focus on production lines. Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and proactive management of potential risks.
    • Coordinate and supervise facilities staff and contractors to perform routine preventative maintenance and repair work, ensuring high standards and minimal disruption to operations.
    • Manage the safe storage and inventory of hazardous materials, ensuring all practices are code-compliant and aligned with industry best practices. This includes maintaining up-to-date inventory records and safety data sheets for all hazardous materials.
    • Oversee the code-compliant and timely disposal of hazardous waste, coordinating with reputable hazardous waste disposal consultants and companies to ensure all hazardous waste is handled and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Regulatory Compliance and Permitting: Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations. Manage permitting processes and maintain open communication with regulatory bodies.
    • Handle emergency planning and response for facility-related issues, including the management of hazardous materials spills or exposures.
    • Landlord Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for landlord. Coordinate activities related to routine maintenance, security measures, and facility modifications or expansions.
    • Facility Knowledge and EH&S: Work with consultants to implement best practices in environmental health and safety (EH&S) across the facility. Utilize in-depth operational knowledge of facility business functions, with a strong emphasis on EH&S requirements and practices. Lead regular safety meetings with the team to review safety incidents, remedial actions and planning for anticipated hazards.
    • Facility Maintenance and Cleanliness: Uphold a high standard of professionalism and cleanliness within both the production facility and office areas.
    Required Experience and Skills:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Will also consider Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field plus at least 10 years of experience in facilities management within a manufacturing environment
    • Facilities Management Expertise: At least 7 years of experience in facilities management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the battery or similar high-tech industry.
    • Technical and Regulatory Knowledge: Strong technical understanding of facility operations, infrastructure, and systems. Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and permitting processes.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Capable of effectively liaising with internal teams, external partners, landlords, and regulatory agencies.
    • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Creative and self-driven, with a proven track record in problem-solving. Ability to adapt to various challenges and wear multiple hats in a dynamic environment.
    Location & Benefits: San Leandro, CA. Full-time. Salary range of $126,000 – $150,000. Salary and equity options depend on experience. Dental, vision, healthcare and 401(k) benefits are included. Applications will be screened as received.
