Facilities Engineer plans and implements the design of plants, offices, and production lines in order to maximize the use of available space and improve production efficiency. Estimates costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, etc. and monitors the construction process. Being a Facilities Engineer researches production/processing equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathers data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs. Ensures that established efficiency and safety targets are met. Additionally, Facilities Engineer typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for operating, inspecting, repairing, maintaining of the power plant, auxiliary equipment, emergency generators/switchgear, cogeneration, sterilizers, and related process equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Three to five years in plant operation and equipment repair working within a commercial facility or institution preferred. Experience working on engines, generators, condensers, pumps, compressors, and boilers required.
Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of pump function, maintemance and repair, brazing, electrical troubleshooting, boiler operation, and blueprint reading. Basic computer skills necessary.
License/Certifications: If hired after January 1, 2013 a 500 HP Los Angeles Steam License is required within one year of hire. For those hired prior to January 1, 2013 a 500 HP Los Angeles Steam License is required. EPA 608 Certification preferred.
Equipment: Boilers, cogeneration engines, chillers, absorbers, cooling towers, sterilizers, pumps and computers. Employee provides basic personal hand tools.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
PAY RANGE
$30.71 - $46.07
