Facilities Engineer plans and implements the design of plants, offices, and production lines in order to maximize the use of available space and improve production efficiency. Estimates costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, etc. and monitors the construction process. Being a Facilities Engineer researches production/processing equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathers data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs. Ensures that established efficiency and safety targets are met. Additionally, Facilities Engineer typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Facilities Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.     FACILITIES CHEMICAL ENGINEER

    Daily/Support Duties

        Support Chemical Engineering functions in the Facilities Engineering Department.

        Work as a Facilities System owner to improve, maintain, optimize and document various facilities systems as assigned such as General Waste Water collection and treatment, Fluoride Waste Water collection and treatment, Deionized Water, Reclaim water, Process Gas supply, Process chemical supply, Scrubbed Exhaust systems, and Solid Separation Systems.  

        Maintain system sequence of operation and other system specific technical/operating documentation (includes Management of Change, drawings, set points, P&ID’s, etc.).

        Provide engineering support for the operation and maintenance of facilities Chemical systems by working closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel.  

        Review operating and maintenance procedures and programs to maximize personnel safety and equipment uptime, while also minimizing operating costs.

        Optimize Chemical system energy efficiency, maintenance activities, component lives and process sequences/operations.

        Respond to Production requests for support and equipment installations.

        Provide engineering oversight and ownership of all PSM/RMP systems.  Update required documentation, provide tours, and train others.

    Project Duties

        Identify and implement capacity or performance enhancements for existing systems to reduce facility operating expenses and improve reliability.

        Specify Chemical systems and components to achieve required project objectives.

        Develop project scopes budgets, and schedules.

        Make plans and procedures to commission new facilities systems and equipment.  

        Prepare scope of work packages with documents and drawings for contractors bidding purposes.

        Oversee contractor work and equipment startup as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications

        Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering.

        7 years’ experience with industrial chemical systems.

        Ability to manage several medium to large projects simultaneously.

        Ability to apply engineering fundamentals for chemical systems.

        Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

        Ability to make and read system P&ID’s.

        Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

        Ability to manage project budgets, plans and schedules.

        Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    Preferred Skills / Experience

        Experience with Deionized water systems

        PSM/RMP related knowledge and experience

        Independent and self-driven individual. 

        Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Solid Works a plus.

        Experience in manufacturing at a high tech / semiconductor fab.

        P.E. License in WA state.

    Work Environment & Physical Requirements

    Must be able to read, comprehend, and execute complex instructions and safety procedures.  Must be able to work periodically in a clean room environment wearing clean room suit, hood, booties, safety glasses and gloves. May require the use of hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel objects, tools and controls. Ascends, descends ladders, stairs, scaffolds, ramps, poles, towers, etc.  Kneeling, bending and crouching positions, as well as the lifting of parts may be required.  Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.  Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.  Frequent sitting for long intervals.  Close vision (<2 feet) required. Hazardous chemicals or vapors may be present in work area depending on assignment.  Exposure to occasionally loud noise levels.  A high degree of safety consciousness is required for all positions at SEH America.  Some night and weekend work may be required based on project status.  Occasional international travel may be required.  Must be able to obtain passport and travel to required destinations.
