Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Facilities Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • KOOTENAI COUNTY is currently accepting applications for our FACILITIES DIRECTOR position. This position reports directly to the Board of County Commissioners and will oversee several major construction projects over the next several years while supervising regular facility operations.


    The Facilities Director performs a variety of professional, managerial and administrative duties to include planning, organizing, directing and coordinating at least nine (9) County Buildings including the Juvenile Justice Center, Juvenile Detention Center and Jail (if assigned) as well as the Administrative Campus and associated functions. Plans and manages all aspects of the organizations maintenance, repair, construction, as well as planning and development regarding County buildings. 


    • $94,244 – $112,028 per year depending on experience 
    • Public Employees Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI), a pension plan with five year vesting, 11.18% employer contribution, and a lifetime payout upon retirement

    DO YOU QUALIFY?

    • Do you possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or closely related field from a professional/technical school?
    • Do you have a minimum of five (5) years related building maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience?
    • Do you have a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience?                                 
    • Do you possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license, First Aid card and CPR certification, and be insurable?

     

    THIS POSITION IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU IF YOU:

     

    • Possess a strong knowledge of the trades, preparing vendor contracts, and working with safety and regulatory agencies
    • Are skilled in planning, organizing, and directing department personnel to ensure general repairs, routine and emergency maintenance, and other facility work is completed efficiently
    • Are experienced  in managing all construction and installation projects to ensure successful completion of work
    • Have a proven track records of preparing effective annual budgets, responsible use of funds, and able to monitors fiscal activity to assure conformity with established budget restraints.
