Primary Duties:
Adheres to continuing education requirements to maintain CMD status. Attends and participants in weekly chart check rounds, technical meetings, and other meetings, as necessary. Completes all Monthly Chart Reviews Quality Assurance duties accurately and on time.
Covers the Chief Dosimetrist's duties in his/her absence. Creates and transfers reference images to EMR (Electronic Medical Record), including DRRs, CBCTs, and images for other IGRT methods. Demonstrates proficiency in image registration with various image data sets to include CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and PET.
Designs high quality treatment plans with optimal beam geometry to deliver a prescribed dose and spare critical structures in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription. Establishes and maintains relationships with other external departments, as necessary. Identifies and contours normal and dose-limiting structures using detailed knowledge of anatomy.
Manually check computer treatment plans for mathematical accuracy. Documents all pertinent information in the EMR record. Ensure that the physician and therapists fully understand the plan and sign them before treatment has begun. Participates in Brachytherapy procedures by generating treatment plans and dose calculations
Provides clinical support in the form of fabricating immobilization devices, bolus or compensating materials, assisting in patient setup, or performing hand calculations at the request of either the physician or any member of the technical staff. Provides support and teaching to physicists, physicians and therapists whenever needed. Record and bill appropriate charges for services performed. Works closely with the chief dosimetrist/physicist to ensure that the dosimetry staff is providing high quality dosimetry support to the clinical at all times.
Qualifications:
RTT (Radiation Therapy Technologist) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and training in dosimetry or graduation from an approved Medical Dosimetry school.
4 years of dosimetrist experience.
MDCB (Medical Dosimetry Certification Board) Certification.
