    Responsible for the negotiation, implementation, and monitoring of third-party payor contracting activities focusing on hospital, professional, and ancillary services.

    Responsibilities

  • Develops contracting strategies for third-party payor contracts.
  • Provides leadership and management of third-party payor contract negotiations and assigned payor relationships.
  • Responsible for mitigating contractual risks through appropriate and acceptable contract language, ensuring contracts are written in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Creates and monitors contract performance metrics for strategic payor relationships.
  • Analyzes contract compliance levels and identifies change or improvement opportunities.
  • Supervises staff responsible for ensuring contracts are indexed and maintained in the electronic document imaging/storage systems. Monitors key attributes and initiates communication plans with stakeholders.
  • Reviews third-party contract proposals for potential system enhancement or benefits, providing information to the D-H members for review.
  • Identifies revenue optimization and contract language opportunities.
  • Analyzes contract proposals on behalf of the system. Completes or coordinates financial analysis and language review on all contracts. Presents to D-H contract leadership and/or the Revenue Contract Strategies committee for decision and supports the implementation.
  • Monitors and maintains understanding of national, regional, and state insurance market trends and industry changes which may impact D-H.
  • Coordinates the submission of proposals and/or counter proposals, ensuring acceptability and sub-sequential compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems. Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Plans and facilitates meetings and drives communications with third-party payors and internal stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field with 5 years of experience in contract administration for a large hospital or healthcare system, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
    • Experience with both hospital and physician contracts preferred.
