We seek candidates with a firm grasp of science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics and excellent communications skills to work with our visitors and program participants. Our educators engage the public year-round, working with school groups during the academic year, assisting with summer camps as needed, helping design, create and implement imaginative STEM exhibits, planetarium shows and programs. We are open to summer/vacation hires as well as year-round Science Museum Educators.
Ideal candidates will be quick learners and comfortable with technology of all kinds. Minimum requirements: Associates degree in a science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics field OR One year's experience in teaching, presenting, training, demonstrating and/or creating exhibits in a school, science center, museum, planetarium or related setting, or other appropriate experiences related to astronomy, aviation, earth or space science.
Schedule may include days, nights, weekends (and in the future, overnight programs, which may resume when deemed safe to do so), and will take place primarily onsite (both indoors and outside) but also includes travel to schools, libraries and other community venues.
Starting pay: $15/hour. Current benefits include pro-rated paid time off for holidays, a discount in our store and café and an optional retirement plan.
