    Job Summary: The Group Exercise Instructor teaches group exercise in a variety of styles.

    Additional Department Summary: Plans and leads fitness classes that incorporate a Pilates Reformer machine. Conducts fitness classes in a fun, safe, and effective manner that meet University Recreation guidelines at the direction of the Fitness Service Coordinator. Provides an encouraging and motivating environment while helping participants to achieve their fitness goals.

    Required Minimum Qualifications: Group exercise instructor or specialist certification from a nationally recognized certifying organization or NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) accredited fitness certification; OR completion of the Group Exercise Instructor Preparation Course at the University of Alabama Student Recreation Center. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain CPR certification within six (6) weeks of employment.

    Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Pilates instructor NCPT certification or training from a nationally recognized certifying organization, such as Balanced Body, Polestar Pilates, The Pilates Center Boulder, Streamline Pilates, BASI, Peak Pilates; AND two (2) years of experience teaching Pilates Reformer classes. Must have current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification, or ability to complete ARC certification requirements within six (6) weeks of employment.
