Exercise Specialist jobs in Southfield, MI

Location: Southeastern Michigan Health Association - Detroit, MI 48202

Position Summary: Southeastern Michigan Health Association (SEMHA) is looking for an energetic, passionate Exercise Specialist to work with the Fit Kids 360 program at Kids Heath Connection organization(non-profit) . The Fit Kids 360 program focuses on childhood obesity intervention, that targets children 5-17 years old who have a Body Mass Index in the 85th percentile or above and are referred by their primary care physician.

Schedule:

• 8 – week program
• 3-5 hours per week.
• One evening per week.

Duties:

• Deliver weekly interactive and creative lectures regarding different aspects of physical activity, sleep, and screen time to Fit Kids and parents using Fit Kids 360 curriculum.
• Able to plan physical activities when fitness instructor is not present and takes into consideration appropriateness based on age, level of exertion, and teaching style for working with overweight children and adults. Able to offer low-impact modifications.
• Able to teach fun, interactive, and engaging sports to kids to provide the opportunity to experience different sports.
• Be available for questions from families during class and work with Fit Kids one-on-one.

Requirements:

• Degree in Exercise Physiology, Recreational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, or related field
• A personal trainer or physical education instructor would also be an excellent fit.
• Willing to travel to different locations in the Detroit area.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Salary: $24.00 hourly

Employment Type: 1099 Contractor Position
