Exercise Specialist PRN Days Position Summary
This position serves as the primary access point for the fitness center and all programs that are encompassed within the fitness center to include the Cardiac Rehab and Employee Wellness Program.
Provides individualized rehab program to meet personal and family needs of patients. Position is responsible for outpatient classes.
Job Responsibilities
Comprehensive knowledge of health and wellness programming, exercise prescription and utilization of exercise equipment (cardiovascular and strength training equipment).
Strong organizational and time management skills. Effectively communicates with patients, families, healthcare team members to facilitate seamless transition into fitness program.
Assesses patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational needs on admission. Sets realistic goals. Individualizes patient’s plan of care.
Performs no invasive cardiology tests. Documents patient care assessments. Requests an accurate clinical history as necessary for fitness assessments instructions and specific preparations to the individual scheduling the procedure.
Reviews and evaluates scheduled appointments for completeness. Assists with pre-registration process by obtaining demographic information and insurance information.
Comprehensive understanding of how to assess vitals to include Blood Pressure, Heart Rate and Respiratory Rate. Informs patients of expected payment for enrollment within the program.
Receives Physician orders and schedules procedures by both telephone and electronic media. Obtains provisional and maintains communication with rehab staff members daily.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and balance professional and personal commitments. Ability to follow policies and procedure, arrive prepared and on time for work and consistently demonstrate service excellence.
Ability to maintain personal wellness in making lifelong healthy choices and continuing to learn to meet ones physical, nutritional and emotional needs.
Ability to assess a situation and make well informed decisions independently. Other duties as assigned.
Education
Required : Associate or bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field of study
Experience
Required : Candidates must have at least two years of experience with reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms, moderate to extensive understanding of health and wellness assessment, fitness evaluation, and exercise prescription for individuals that are deemed appropriate to participate in cardiac rehab, general exercise and fitness programs
Certifications
Required : ACLS / BLS Certified
Qualified professionals : EMT / Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, Registered Nurse
Preferred : Licensed Personal Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, and CPR certified
