Additionally, Executive Housekeeper typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Executive Housekeeper has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. To be an Executive Housekeeper typically requires 3-5 years of related experience, or may have 2 years experience plus an associates degree, or additional training or certification.   • SUMMARY:

    • The Executive Housekeeper will serve as a liaison between the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments along with the front desk to provide guests with an unforgettable experience at our property in addition to exceeding guests expectations of cleanliness.
    • This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of housekeeping staff (room attendants, laundry attendants, houseman, public area attendants and room inspectors); training of staff; managing labor and departmental expenses in order to help achieve financial goals; maintaining S&L Hospitality and brand cleaning standards; focus on meeting customer service standards.
    • The Executive Housekeeper reports directly to the Operations Manager with a line to the General Manager.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Has primary responsibility for all the following:

    General

    • Supervise room attendants, laundry attendants, houseman (if any), public area attendants and room inspectors (if any).

    • May personally inspects on a regular basis to ensure that cleanliness standards are being met.

    • Perform housekeeping duties necessary, including making beds as well as vacuuming and cleaning guest suites to ensure guest satisfaction.

    • Comply with special needs and requests of the guests.

    • Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for employees.

    • Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve employee performance.

    • Participates in staff recruiting, hiring, training, development, scheduling, coaching & counseling/employee disciplinary action, introductory and annual performance evaluations, and succession planning in order to build depth and strength within the department.

    • Ensure staff are properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.

    • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department heads.

    • May assist with deep cleaning projects and/or assist housekeeping staff during high volume periods.

    Customer Service

    • Ensure customer service in all areas. Respond to complaints and take appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into returning guests with support and direction of the Operations Manager and General Manager.

    • Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for guest safety and security.

    • Implements and supervises the “lost and found” policy and procedures.

    • Follow up and/or re-inspect any room discrepancies reported by the front desk.

    Operational Responsibilities

    • Ensure a safe working environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.  Complete injury reports accurately and immediately.

    • Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on increased productivity.

    • Maintain proper inventory levels, managing cost per room for supplies and labor (example: bed & bath linen reuse and laundry operation).

    • Follow all safety and security related guidelines and practices as required by S&L Hospitality and/or the brand. Participate in any safety related training programs throughout the year (i.e. HazCom, Blood Borne Pathogens, Emergency Evacuation, etc.) as requested by the General Manager, Corporate Human Resources & Benefits Director or the brand.

    • Maintain and order supplies and equipment in a timely and efficient manner.

    • Personally adhere to all policies and procedures as identified within the employee handbook and management company guidelines. Maintain overall “Confidentiality” of information as it relates to the brand, S&L Hospitality and ownership.

    • Other Duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or General Manager of the property.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma / secondary education / equivalent plus one year of housekeeping experience, including some supervisory training/experience.

    • Must possess good communication skills in order to effectively and professionally deal with hotel guests, general public and hotel employees. Ability to effectively handle guest and/or employee issues, concerns or conflicts is required.

    • Must possess the ability to inspire and motivate employees to work together as a team as well as fostering empowerment within the housekeeping department.

    • Good organization and time management skills

    PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:

    • Ability to push, pull up to 40 lbs. occasionally

    • Ability to lift, carry up to 10 lbs. frequently

    • Often required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.

    • This position is primarily set indoors but due to the locations of the villas will be exposed to outdoor environment and weather conditions often.

    • May be requested to work overtime and outside of regular schedule for special programs and business needs
