    The Executive Housekeeper at the Fairfield Inn in Las Cruces, New Mexico is responsible for all duties of the housekeeping operation and cleanliness in all areas of the property. This includes the daily shift operations of Housekeeping, Laundry, Fitness Center and Public areas. Directs and works with employees to ensure property guestrooms, public space and employee areas are clean and well maintained. Completes inspections and holds people accountable for corrective action. Position assists in ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. This position requires strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to effectively deal with department heads, guests, and team members.

    Education & Experience:  

    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • Two to three years of progressive experience in housekeeping.
    • At least 4 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience.
    • Candidates with hotel experience in a large room inventory, and in a managerial position for a minimum of 2 years, is preferred.
       

    Physical requirements: 

    • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
    • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    • Ability to stand during entire shift.

    • Comply with BC Lynd Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
    • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
    • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
    • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
    • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
    • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
    • Perform other duties as requested by management.
    • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.


    Fundamental Requirements

    • Conduct regular inspections of the hotel to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards.
    • Ensures guest room status is communicated to the Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner. 
    • Works effectively with the Engineering department on guestroom maintenance needs.
    • Supervises the property general cleaning schedule.
    • Obtains list of rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs or discharges to prepare work assignments.
    • Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies.
    • Supervise daily Housekeeping shift operations and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures.
    • Assists in the ordering of guestroom supplies, cleaning supplies and uniforms.
    • Supports and supervises an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public space.
    • Communicates areas that need attention to staff and follows up to ensure understanding.
    • Ensures all employees have proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
    • Participates in the management of the department’s operations controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
    • Understands the impact of department’s operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives and manages to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
    • Comprehends budgets, operating statements and payroll progress reports as needed to assist in the financial management of department. 
    • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
    • Strives to improve service performance.
    • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
    • Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
    • Participates as needed in the investigation of employee accidents.
    • Supervise staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.  
    • Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters.
    • Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs).
    • Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback to individuals.
    • Uses all available resources of the job training tools to train new room attendants and provide follow up training as necessary.
    • Participates in the employee performance appraisal process, providing feedback as needed. 
    • Actively participates in the interviewing and hiring of employee team members with the appropriate skills.
    • Supports a departmental orientation program for employees to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.
    • Participates in employee progressive discipline procedures.
