Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist supports and coordinates the activities of the organization's global ethics and compliance function. Assists with the delivery and maintenance of programs to assess and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks and establish high ethical standards of conduct for the organization. Being an Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist prepares materials that communicate the organization's ethical standards, policies, and regulations. Supports or delivers employee training programs that raise awareness about ethics-related topics such as Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption, Antitrust, Conflicts of Interest, and others. Additionally, Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist generates reports of compliance monitoring statistics, investigations, outcomes, and remediations of any non-compliant actions. May administer reporting systems or helplines for employees, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders to disclose violations of the organization's ethical standards, violations of law, or policies without fear of retaliation. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Summary:
    JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, provides a high level of operational support for the ethics and compliance program. Assists in the ongoing implementation, maintenance, and advancement of the organization’s ethics and compliance program and annual work plans to directly support compliance with applicable ethical standards, laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and professional practice standards. Assists in the development and performance of strategic risk assessments, compliance plans, and budgeting. The following duties are to provide a representative summary of the essential duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Level I employees perform work under direct or general supervision, may only perform simple or routine aspects or the position. Level III employees perform high level, complex, and responsible tasks within this position, train lower level employees, and generally work with general or minimal direction.

    Responsibilities:

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
    A ll Monitors the reporting channels, including the anonymous telephone reporting system and the web-based incident reporting system. Ensures that the reporting system is adequately publicized. Accurately tracks all issues referred to the Ethics and Compliance Services
    A ssists in preparing periodic and annual reports on the Ethics and Compliance Program to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
    S upports the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer by executing compliance program elements and promoting ethical and compliant behavior to ensure that the program meets or exceeds federal, state, and/or industry standards.
    M anages and prioritizes assigned projects to deadlines.
    P romotes workforce awareness of ethical and compliant operational practices and effective lines of communication through implementation of compliance awareness projects.
    A ssists in the development and execution of risk assessments for organizational divisions, departments, and programs to assess compliance risks.
    A ssists in prioritizing risks and developing any necessary corrective action plans.

    P erforms other duties as assigned.

    H ealthcare Compliance Specialist II and III
    D evelops and coordinates appropriate compliance training and education programs for new and existing workforce members.
    A ssess the need for additional train and education as needed.
    A ssists in reporting to the Ethics, Compliance, Hotline Oversight Committee on any significant compliance issues that have been reported to the Ethics and Compliance Program.
    A ssists the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer with developing and implementing an annual review of an update to the Ethics and Compliance Plan that is consistent with applicable federal/state laws, Office of Inspector General Compliance Guidance, U.S. Sentencing Commission, and IHS standards.
    W orks with the Human Resources Department to establish minimum standards for conducting appropriate background and reference checks on potential employees to ensure a work force with high ethical standards.
    R eports findings to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and provides appropriate feedback to operational stakeholders.
    R eceives compliance and privacy allegations; researches compliance issues; and conducts investigations in accordance with standard practices.
    P repares written findings and recommendations for each investigation and provides appropriate recommendations.
    R efers issues that may involve non-compliance, misconduct, voluntary disclosures, and/or refunds to appropriate position or department.
    C onducts auditing and monitoring activities on policies and procedures, legal and regulatory requirements, grants management, and business practices for compliance, and monitors corrective action plans to ensure that non- compliant issues are addressed.
    C onducts compliance program data collection, analysis, and trending.
    F unctions as compliance liaison between internal/external customers, internal/external auditors, business partners, committees, consultants, federal/state agency staff, contractors, and fiscal intermediaries.
    S erves as acting leader in the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer’s absence.
