Researches and evaluates suppliers to ensure the availability of materials and confirm that materials meet the organization's standards of price and quality. Being an Estimator - Materials may need the ability to use CAD software and interpret technical documents such as blueprints or mechanical drawings. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Estimator - Materials typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Estimator - Materials occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. · Studying architectural drawings and identifying our trades scope of work
· For the specific scope of work items; Determine the breakdown for materials and required manufacturing labor hours.
· Solicitation of vendor prices for the required materials, buyout items incorporated within millwork and installation labor.
· Negotiating prices with vendors and subs
· Soliciting subcontractor pricing as required
· Attending scope review meetings by zoom or by in person visit (if the circumstances require that)
· Solicitation of new business opportunities through current or new contacts
· Completing schedules of values
· Pricing change orders
· Project “hand-off” meetings
· Plan reviews
· Collaboration for engineering (if required beyond the hand off meetings)
· Weekly reporting for project estimate status
Qualifications
- Strong background in construction estimating, cost control, and pricing
- Proficiency in using Bluebeam and HeavyBid software for estimating purposes
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing and contracts
- Knowledge of construction management and project management principles
- Familiarity with contracts and their implications in the construction industry
