Estimator - Materials analyzes job requirements and project proposals to estimate amounts and types of raw materials required to complete tasks. Researches and evaluates suppliers to ensure the availability of materials and confirm that materials meet the organization's standards of price and quality. Being an Estimator - Materials may need the ability to use CAD software and interpret technical documents such as blueprints or mechanical drawings. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Estimator - Materials typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Estimator - Materials occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. The estimator works very closely with the sales team to generate estimates for our manufactured and distributed products. Estimates are based upon field dimensions gathered from the project site, conversations with sales and customer direct, information provided by vendors, and meetings with our internal engineering and management teams. The position is responsible for preparing close to actual cost estimates, communicating with sales / vendors / customers / peers, tracking completed estimates and prioritizing new estimates.
