    Summary

    We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator who will play a pivotal role in preparing and coordinating comprehensive estimates for medium to large-scale construction projects of varying complexities. In this position, you will provide valuable conceptual and final estimating insights for complex Construction Management and Design-Build projects, or you will determine the total bid price for General Contracting work. Your responsibilities will include interfacing with clients, architects and engineers, and contractors to offer engineering and cost-related data, assess project feasibility, and resolve technical issues during contract negotiations and execution.

    In This role, You Will

    Prepare construction project estimates in accordance with established estimating standards.

    Interpret and comprehend plans and specifications for diverse projects.

    Collect essential information and project requirements to plan the work.

    Perform accurate material quantity take-offs based on project plans and specifications.

    Analyze labor and equipment requirements for work to be performed by teams, and present this information to management for decision-making.

    Provide a precise project scope analysis to support the pursuit team in determining bid strategy and pricing.

    Utilize company-provided estimating software effectively to ensure accurate and comprehensive bid and budgetary pricing.

    Identify the subcontractors required for each project based on an understanding of the work scope and project location.

    Solicit bids from vendors and subcontractors, specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating pricing.

    Foster and maintain relationships with subcontractors, both existing and potential.

    Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and colleagues through various forms of communication.

    Evaluate and coordinate supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure a complete scope of work is included.

    Collaborate with the business development team to create successful bid strategies.

    Engage with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors post-bid to gather additional project information.

    Keep estimating databases up-to-date with current cost data to ensure accuracy.

    Stay current with industry developments by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional networks and societies.

    Report key metrics to the Director of Estimating as necessary.

    Perform any additional duties as required.

    Requirements, Knowledge, and Experience

    A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or commensurate work experience is preferred.

    5-10 years of experience in commercial construction.

    Strong organizational and communication skills.

    Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

    The capability to thrive in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.

    Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

    Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, a sense of urgency, and resourcefulness.

    Consistent employment history demonstrating loyalty and commitment.

    Proficiency in Sage Estimating or similar software.

    Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Microsoft Office.

    Familiarity with Planswift Software or equivalent.
