Estimator - Cost jobs in New Mexico
Estimator - Cost develops cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and contract proposals using applicable estimating methodologies and tools. Analyzes project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements. Being a Estimator - Cost uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations. Depending on the complexity and type of project, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates. Additionally, Estimator - Cost provides guidance and training on estimating best practices. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years of relevant experience.

Uncleared - Must be able to obtain and maintain a Clearance

Overview:
- Performs cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects or proposals.
- Coordinates task execution with other Project Controls staff.
- Performs data analysis identifying problems and makes recommendations.
- Performs control activities for project and/or proposal efforts.
- Performs historical data analysis and maintains historical databases.
- Supports estimate reporting and reviews.
- Provides technical direction to assigned personnel when delegated.
- Supports training activities, as needed.
- Executes simultaneous tasks within broadly defined parameters.
Clearance & Citizenship Requirement:
- To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Due to the federal nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
Post graduate course work may be expected.

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
