Analyzes project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements. Being a Estimator - Cost uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations. Depending on the complexity and type of project, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates. Additionally, Estimator - Cost provides guidance and training on estimating best practices. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Publish reports, understand the reports you publish and be able to answer questions
o Monthly
o Quarterly
o Various degrees of complexity and preparation requirements
o Good understanding of Excel and functions such as vlookups, pivot tables, and charts
· Analyze price change requests
o Support the price and material adjustment process
o Validate parts are correct JD Parts
o Validate current prices match
o Validate if material rate change is valid
o Review for outliers
o Investigate or escalate
o Update system with validated information.
o Update system with current rate information
· Forecasting
o Manage specific council’s Material Place Holders (forecast tool)
o Meet with Supply Base Managers as need to ensure a robust forecast for raw materials.
o Assist in month-end activities related to updating forecasts in the CMS system
o Other support as required in maintaining projects in the Cost Management System (CMS)
· New system
o Responsible for dual loading of projects in the new forecast system and CMS
o Work with suppliers and Supply Base Managers to mass upload part level detail and other pertinent information in the new automated material adjustment system.
o Assist with validation of the uploads to ensure data integrity is high
