Estimating Director leads the estimating function and develops standards, procedures, tools, and methodologies to produce cost estimates for technical projects based on work scope, specifications, and proposal or contract requirements. Establishes processes to perform analysis of project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements. Being an Estimating Director incorporates benchmark data, trends, and historical pricing to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations. Develops a workflow and system for scheduling and processing estimate requests and communicating with stakeholders. Additionally, Estimating Director depending on the complexity and type of project, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Estimating Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Estimating Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Summary:

    This role primarily involves sales and estimating responsibilities, with a focus on selling flooring products and services while also handling estimating tasks for both direct sales and overflow from other sales associates.

    Essential Functions:

    • Stay updated on a wide selection of flooring products, including their benefits and warranties.
    • Provide exceptional customer service, building strong client relationships through showroom meetings.
    • Assist customers in selecting flooring options, explaining features and benefits.
    • Sell flooring products and installations, meeting or exceeding sales goals and metrics.
    • Conduct field measurements as needed.
    • Interpret construction drawings using appropriate software.
    • Perform material takeoffs, create cost proposals, and solicit material and vendor pricing.
    • Generate quotes and proposals using spreadsheet and Structure software.
    • Adhere to timelines for producing estimates and takeoffs.
    • Prepare proposals, sales orders, and other necessary documents.
    • Collaborate with administrative staff to create work orders and job schedules.
    • Take responsibility for each job's process, providing assistance and follow-up as needed.
    • Visit job sites to ensure smooth installation processes.
    • Coordinate with accounting to ensure timely collection of job payments.
    • Network effectively with other store employees.
    • Utilize computer databases for merchandise availability and order processing.
    • Follow up promptly and professionally with customers regarding requests or concerns.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability to read and understand plans.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
