Being an Estate Planning Director ensures that the agency stays abreast of regulatory guidelines and new trends in the field. Researches and advises on tax, technical, and legal questions. Additionally, Estate Planning Director introduces new life products to the field and contributes to design of related software and tools. May be a speaker at insurance conferences or meetings. Requires a bachelor's degree of business, marketing, or mathematics. Typically reports to top management. May require Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). The Estate Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Cummings & Lockwood is currently seeking an experienced International Estate Planning Attorney with 5 years’ experience. This position can be based in our Stamford, Greenwich or West Hartford offices or Naples, Bonita Springs or Palm Beach Gardens, Florida offices.
Desired Qualifications:
Strong academic credentials with a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and an active member in good standing in the Connecticut and/or New York or Florida bars
Advising U.S. clients:
on structuring ownership in foreign businesses to minimize U.S. tax
Drafting U.S. estate plan documents for U.S. clients with foreign assets or foreign beneficiaries and coordinating with foreign counsel
Administering estates of U.S. individuals who own foreign assets
Advising foreign clients:
on pre-immigration planning
Drafting U.S. estate plan documents for foreign clients with assets or beneficiaries in the U.S. and coordinating with foreign counsel
Administering estates of foreign individuals who own U.S. assets
Advising clients on U.S. reporting requirements for foreign investments and transfers from foreign entities or people.
