Heyl & Patterson Equipment, a world leader in Bulk Material Handling equipment for the power, mining, metals, grain, rail and ports markets is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team. H&P is part of the Hall group of companies based in the Pittsburgh area.
The position is located in our office in Canonsburg, PA
The Engineering Manager manages, communicates, delegates, and monitors all activities in the Mechanical Engineering department.
Engineering Manager Responsibilities:
· Overall leadership responsibility for technical execution of projects meeting technical specifications and exceeding customers’ expectations.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully meet project objectives and fully understand scope to assure work is performed according to the customers specifications.
· Responsible for maintaining engineering department schedule and managing resources to meet deadlines.
· Ensures adherence to H&P Quality and Engineering/Drafting standards.
· Responsible for the pertinent technology of the Engineering group and product lines and related interfaces.
· Includes advanced engineering, directing drafters and designers in creation of detail, assembly and/or arrangement drawings, as well as checking of drawings for accuracy.
· Perform mechanical equipment sizing calculations based on reference information and assist in preparation of equipment technical specifications and requisitions for procurement and fabrication.
· Maintaining and increasing the technical expertise within the group through training and new hires.
· Evaluating employee performance and coaching individual’s continuous development / improvement.
· Reporting and forecasting engineering workload for the Engineering group
· Planning and allocating resources for contract, proposal, & workshop technical assistance request.
· Identifying the need, planning and coordinating any outside engineering assistance.
· Developing, implementing, and enforcing the necessary engineering standards, design procedures, training initiatives, etc. in coordination with Engineering Managers from other groups.
What You’ll Need
· BS degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
· Professional Engineer registration is a plus
· Ability to work well in teams and a successful track record of managing people.
· Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues of all educational & experience levels
· Working knowledge of CAD & ERP systems is highly desirable (ACAD, Inventor, GlobalShop.)
