    The purpose of the position is to operate one or more types of heavy equipment.

    Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member.

    Typical duties include:

    • Safely operating engineering and construction equipment such as grader, backhoe, street sweeper, road magnet, etc.
    • Excavating, digging trenches and loading dump trucks with refuse and sand.
    • Adjusting attachments for proper level, angle, or depth according to the work to be done and the type of equipment used.
    • Operating snow removal equipment such as snow plows, sanding equipment and front loaders.

    • The position requires a valid commercial "A" driver's license.
