    Apex Systems is hiring multiple Mechanical Engineers for one of our top clients in the Kent, WA area! This will be a long term open ended contract with strong potential for extension.     Job Description:
    • Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Equipment & Tool Engineer to join the Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team as part of our Space, Intelligence, and Weapon Systems business unit located within a 10mile radius of Tukwila, WA.
    • This GSE team supports a variety of programs ranging from technology development to initial production, and as such is seeking a highly responsible professional committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity to support and grow our organization through the development and implementation of Best Practices and Standard Work across all business units.
    • A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics & production engineers, to directly support the production system by designing Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE). Being able to identify not only short-term production needs but also anticipate long-term end-of-life equipment & tool requirement is critical to our overall lifecycle strategy.
    • The ideal candidate will use extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish tasks, have the ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to building a positive culture; in addition, be accountable, adaptable, work as an empowered team member, and be a strong communicator.     Primary Responsibilities:
    • Develops program and project requirements, develops highly complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions, including alternatives for the Production System.
    • Validates analysis of technical data, influences product engineering design and makes robotics, automation or technical recommendations to support production system integration.
    • Leads the creation and modification of equipment and tooling definition at the program level.
    • Executes project plans, provides input to Make/Buy decisions and partners with Procurement to meet program schedule, cost and quality targets.
    • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements. Leads gated reviews and develops plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance and spares.
    • Validates contractual performance milestones.
    • Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software, and documentation.
    • Conducts studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets.
    • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts technical reviews, and prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.
    • Evaluate customer and/or operational needs to define and coordinate mechanical support equipment performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
    • Provide engineering expertise during production development activities; developing program and project requirements of highly complex equipment and tooling solutions, including alternatives for the Production System, in the areas of mechanical design, assembly, integration, & test.
    • Participate in equipment and tool inspections/demonstrations to ensure requirements are met
    • Lead Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts and drive results of the RCCA to production
    • Aid engineers or technicians with returning equipment to production
    • Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel.
    • Provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
    • Creates and implements maintenance workshops with production and maintenance personnel
    • Ideal candidate will be a mechanical engineer who has done design work


    Basic Qualifications
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret Clearance
    • Proficiency in Model-Based Definition and Drawing-Based Definition utilizing CATIA V5 with configuration management in ENOVIA and/or Teamcenter
    • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Hands-on experience with production equipment troubleshooting related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
    • 9 years of experience in interacting with customers (both internal and external), at all levels, on a one-on-one basis and in group settings


    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
    • Experience with Model Based Engineering, Data Integration, and a solid understanding of the Enterprise Standard Gated Practice
    • 4 years of relevant experience in Digital Transformation
    • Experience with programming, integrating or troubleshooting industrial controls from OEMs
    • Experience in automation and robotics
    • Familiarity with RCCAs and the tools used to conduct them (5 Why, Fishbone, KNOT charts, etc.)
    • Experience with stress analysis hand calculations and results validation with any one or more of the following programs - RISA, Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, Autodesk
    • Mechanical or Aerospace engineering degree
