GENERAL SUMMARY
The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for organizing and leading standards and processes related to the development of new products, as well as improvement of existing products through the efforts of a cross-functional product development team. This position focuses on utilizing senior level technical experience to ensure that designs will meet specifications and customer expectations for safety, reliability, productivity, and cost effectiveness.

The Senior Product Engineer is the technical interface between the Garlock engineering department and product development. They also represent engineering in cross functional work groups.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or similar degree from four-year college or university; and at least seven years related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or suppliers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Possess the ability to apply appropriate mathematical concepts with respect to standard engineering functions and practices. This includes the ability to identify the nature and magnitude of loads and stresses a product will endure under foreseeable application scenarios and execute mathematical operations to analyze and validate a products’ ability to perform as intended. Possess a familiarity with accepted software programs intended for the mathematical evaluation of structures and power requirements. Possess the ability to perform standard arithmetic functions with respect to product cost estimation and validation.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
