Job Title: Independent Contractor for Freight Packaging and Shipment Preparation

Location: South-End of New Bedford, MA

Job Type: Contract, As-needed basis

Compensation: $50 to $125 per task, depending on the size and complexity of the packaging / palletizing requirements.

Payments are mailed once a week.

Medical Equipment Dynamics is a family owned business established for 17 years in New Bedford, that specializes in the acquisition and resale of decommissioned capital medical equipment. MED is committed to excellence in handling and delivering very-well packaged equipment to our clients. We are seeking skilled and flexible Independent Contractors to assist with packaging and preparing our products for freight shipments on an as-needed basis (due to the randomness of this need).

Job Description:
You will be responsible for the secure and efficient custom-packaging of medical equipment onto pallets, ensuring they are ready for safe transportation. Tasks will range from standard palletizing to larger, custom solutions for non-standard sized pallets.

Responsibilities:

• Securely package medical equipment onto standard 48x40 pallets or custom-sized pallets as required.
• Utilize company-provided tools to cut and affix wood panels to support equipment with wheels.
• Strap equipment securely using multiple pallet straps.
• Wrap equipment with half-inch bubble wrap and/or cardboard, and apply shrink wrap.
• Lift and maneuver heavy items safely and effectively.
• Communicate with freight companies to arrange pickups and prepare necessary shipping documents (e.g., bill of lading).
• Report completed tasks and coordinate with company team members regarding shipment specifics.
• Any additional, associated tasks involved with the shipment of goods.

Duties and Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy items and engage in physical labor.
• Experience with palletizing, strapping, and preparing freight shipments.
• Attention to detail and commitment to handling goods with care to prevent damage.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and freight companies.
• Availability to handle 2-3 packaging tasks per week, with occasional increased demand up to 5-6 tasks per day.
