ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Coordinate and implement Carlton County’s recycling and household hazardous waste programs. Coordinate and implement the regulation of wetlands, shoreland and floodplains in accordance with Carlton County Zoning and Environmental Services ordinances and state and federal regulations. Assist with Carlton County’s Comprehensive Local Water Management Plan and regional watershed plans. Provide education and outreach to county residents on the importance of waste source reduction, recycling, and protecting and enhancing the county’s natural resources. Respond to questions and educate the public regarding Carlton County Zoning and Environmental Services ordinances and applicable state and federal regulations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Four (4) year degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry or related field; AND Two (2) years’ technical work experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. Training Required: 24 Hour Initial OSHA Safety & Health, Hazardous Waste Categorization and Minnesota Department of Transportation and Security training, and more are provided. Certificates/Licenses Required: Must hold a valid Minnesota driver’s license and proof of insurance. 40-hour OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and Certified Wetland Delineator with the State of Minnesota preferred.
