Environmental Manager oversees the analysis and evaluation of air, water, and land systems to determine if pollutants are present and directs the implementation of appropriate corrective action if necessary. Develops and plans policies and procedures related to air, water, and land systems in accordance with organization and government rules and regulations. Being an Environmental Manager evaluates operations and makes recommendations to reduce waste or pollution. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Additionally, Environmental Manager typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Environmental Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Environmental Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Salary Range:   $80,000 – $130,000 annual

     

    MarCom, LLC, located in Idaho Falls, ID is seeking an Environmental Program Manager to provide leadership and work direction to a multi-disciplinary team with diverse responsibilities, provide technical support to clients, provide growth for the Environmental Program. 

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Implement and grow the MarCom Environmental Program.
    • Review and write Environmental Program documentation.
    • Respond to Request for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Manage budgets for multiple projects. 
    • Establish and maintain close working relationships with internal and external contacts including local, regional, state, and federal agencies and clients. 
    • Ensure relationships with key stakeholders is positive and constructive. 
    • Recruit, hire, and provide technical support to entry level through senior staff for environmental positions and develop succession plans. 
    • Ability to lead a team and assign tasks efficiently. 
    • Provide safety training requirements for environmental staff. 
    • Provide technical support and information to line management. Communicate Environmental Program Plan and policy requirements to clients and staff as they apply. 

     

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Manage contracts and approve invoices.
    • Deliver verbal and written status reports to supervisor, team members, and clients.
    • Other duties as required by business needs.

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge in scientific field of study related to the environment and environmental policy. 
    • Knowledge of environmental regulations (i.e. CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, EPCRA, etc.) 
    • Ability to interpret and explain regulatory requirements. 
    • Knowledge of field sampling requirements (soil, oil, paint, water, building materials, etc.). 
    • Knowledge of Data Quality Objectives (DQOs). 
    • Understand and direct staff on Chain of Custody (COC) requirements and other sampling requirements. 
    • Understanding of proper labeling and handling of hazardous material and waste requirements. 
    • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills:
      1. Writing and reviewing reports (Lab Narratives, Sampling Narratives, Sampling and Analysis Plans, Environmental Impact Statements, etc.
      2. Following and enforcing MarCom Environmental Program procedures. 
      3. Detailed data reporting.
      4. Auditing procedures.
    • Ability to solve problems efficiently. 
    • Direct others.
    • Move 50 lbs.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).

     

     

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years’ experience; or an advanced degree and 5 years’ experience in Environmental Management and/or policy. 
    • Knowledge and/or familiarity with OSHA requirements.
    • Knowledge of federal and state site investigation and waste management programs including CERCLA, RCRA, UST, NEPA, and asbestos. 
    • Licenses, certifications, etc. required: HAZWOPER, CPR, First Aid.
    • Work Authorization/Security Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain a DOE Clearance.
    • Contracts require US citizenship.
    • Must have or be able to obtain a state driver’s license.

    • Supervisor Environmental Staff
