Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Being an Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Environmental, Health and Safety Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Here, you will make an impact by: Ensuring compliance to all applicable standards and regulations, and conformance to all 3M environmental, health and safety expectations. Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes in order to reduce risk. Involvement in various site wide EHS initiatives and projects designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the site’s EHS programs. Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses and potential hazards. Builds networks with necessary disciplines and utilizes available information, resources and systems to develop and initiate projects for Operator engagement and continuous improvement. Demonstrates competency in project leadership at a team project level Develops communication and presents on projects being conducted. Collaborates with management, stakeholders, and project team members to identify/refine project scope, and define project plan. Works with stakeholders to define communication plans and executes them within organization to ensure project support. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or EHS discipline (completed and verified prior to start) Internship experience in a private, public, government or military environment. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Master’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or EHS discipline from an accredited institution Two (2) or more years of experience working in an EHS role in a manufacturing environment Professional certifications(s) such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or willingness to obtain Willing to join site Emergency Response and Hazmat teams. Experience implementing comprehensive EHS management systems Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organizational skills Leads with high energy and passion Work location: Aberdeen, SD Travel: May include up to 15% domestic Relocation Assistance: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
