The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Prime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance: 1.Must be familiar with Federal, State and local environmental and safety regulations, have the ability to interpret them and then ensure necessary actions are taken to comply. 2.Provides company-wide guidance and program support for confined space entry, lockout/tag out, electrical, ergonomic, industrial hygiene monitoring, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, and related health, safety and environmental programs.   3.Assists in all related reporting, auditing and program maintenance tasks.  Reviews processes, assists in regulation interpretation, analyzes trends, and refers issues to management, as appropriate, for effective and timely resolution. 4.Conducts facility inspections/audits which effectively and efficiently detect existing or potential safety, health and environmental hazards and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.  Proactively analyzes data and trends and communicates findings and recommendations to other operations to ensure continuous improvement across the company.  Prepares and analyzes audit reports utilizing established procedures.   5.Provides incident investigation support to plant management as needed.  Prepares clear and accurate documentation. 6.Maintains the OSHA Log and calculates TRIR metrics for Hitchiner facilities. 7.Emergency contact for Milford facilities. 8.Performs job hazard assessments.  Evaluates tasks and collaborates with internal personnel to determine required changes to process, protective equipment requirements, engineering controls etc. 9.Tracks safety performance for each business unit including audit results and incident statistics and communicates performance to senior management.  Provides comparison to similar industry incident rates highlights significant incident trends, monitors OSHA/EPA regulations to limit company exposure, etc. 10.Manages and assists in the development, monitoring, updating, coordination and delivery of training programs designed to increase employee awareness and reduce environmental impact and/or personal injuries. 11.Reviews and approves (or rejects) MSDSs and change management checklist submissions for the safety impact and potential compliance issues; Administrative responsibility for maintenance of MSDSOnline. 12.Maintains up-to-date knowledge and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, select DOL, etc.). 13.Acts as a liaison and technical resource supporting existing safety committees. 14.Assist with facility inspections by outside agencies. 15.Assists with writing and completion of routine environmental compliance and monitoring reports.   Additional Responsibilities: 1.Prepares regular, timely and informative content Safety section on company intranet 2.Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: 1. BA/BS in safety/environmental related field of study. 2. Minimum 2-4 years of experience working with OSHA/EPA regulations. 3. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) status and/or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM). 4. Must be self-motivated and possess excellent written and verbal communications skills. 5. Must be computer literate. 6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software packages. 7. Prior experience in industrial hygiene and environmental waste management (highly desirable).
