Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     JOB SUMMARY

     

    Spearheads the development, implementation, promotion and enforcement of safety and environmental programs to achieve and maintain a safe, healthy and incident-free work environment across multiple steel tube and pipe facilities. Leads a team of safety professionals and work collaboratively with other departments to foster a world-class culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

     

    • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
    • Develops and oversees the implementation of comprehensive EHS policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines.
    • Provides strategic leadership and direction to a team of safety managers across multiple locations, promoting a culture of safety, health, and environmental stewardship throughout the company.
    • Coordinates and leads EHS training programs to educate employees at all levels about safety procedures, potential workplace hazards, and best practices.
    • Directs the investigation of incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions, and leads the implementation of suitable measures to prevent their recurrence.
    • Serves as the company’s primary liaison with regulatory bodies and external auditors, ensuring all practices are compliant and up to date with the latest regulations and standards.
    • Develops and implements improvement strategies for the EHS function. Monitors EHS metrics and making data-driven decisions to enhance safety performance.
    • Guides the company's response to emergencies and environmental incidents. Communicates and reports incidents internally and externally.
    • Hires, coaches, leads, mentors, manages, conducts performance review of staff. Reviews and recommends personnel actions for approval.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

    • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety laws and regulations.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internal business application computer system. Familiarity with bar-coding management.
    • Assertive, decisive, action-taker who thrives taking leadership responsibility for the safety of our teammates Ability to lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy. 
    • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen and speak effectively to understand and communicate the needs of customers and team members. Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization, read and interpret documents, and write and electronically submit POs and email to team members.
    • Ability to travel to support operations across multiple locations.

    Environmental conditions: protected from weather conditions but not from temperature changes
