Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Site Safety Health Officer

  • Position Summary

    The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) will provide safety oversight and function as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in accordance with GM Hill Safety policies, and will implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. Applies experience in Procore and Resident Management System (RMS Contractor Mode and/or RMS Quality Control System, QCS) to manage project documentation. 

    Key Tasks

    • Primary duty and responsibility of the SSHO, is to prepare and enforce the company’s safety program on federal projects.
    • The SSHO must meet the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.
    • SSHO shall be on-site at all times when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan.
    • The SSHO's training, experience, and qualifications shall be as required by EM 385-1-1 paragraph 01.A.17, entitled SITE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER (SSHO), and all associated sub-paragraphs.
    • Must be on-site when the work that presents the hazards associated with their professional expertise is being performed.
    • The SSHO shall fulfill the required pre-requisite training and experiences before being hired as the SSHO under this contract.
    • Must be fully knowledgeable of all safety, environmental, and energy requirements associated with the work they perform.
     
    Education and Training Requirements:

    Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering or related field with minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction; or 10 years’ equivalent experience in construction field.

     
    Skill and Competency Requirements:
    • Must have completed five years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past or three years’ experience if they possess a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety and health degree.
    • Must have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent and maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and health-related coursework every four years.
    • Must be fully knowledgeable of all safety, environmental, and energy requirements associated with the work they perform.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Personnel shall speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
    • Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.
    • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the operational regions.
    • The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
    • The ability to walk terrain and surfaces that may be far, uneven, or temporary
    • The ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
    • The ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel
    • The ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach
    • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
    •     Self-starter, highly motivated, enthusiastic, able to provide structural engineering rigor while operating within
    •     Must be able to prioritize, assign, and oversee work on multiple concurrent work.
    •     Must pass background check, drug screen and federal security clearance processes..
    •     ​​​​​​​Must have proficiencies with industry standard software such as Procore, MSOffice, Excel, Word, MS Project & Outlook. RMS experience is highly desired.
