Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Position Summary
Responsible to review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and assist in the design of programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury in the plant. Lead all safety efforts to deliver a culture towards our goal of zero injuries and illnesses. Form partnerships across the organization to ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulations and to meet the organization’s business and financial goals. Responsible for working cross functionally with all locations to implement corporate initiatives and strategies and provide guidance for all sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for employee safety, including safety programs, systems, policies, training, Federal and State OSHA Compliance and audits.
· Conduct monthly safety meetings and complete any safety training that is required. Address any safety issues.
· Lead and conduct all new hire and rehire orientations.
· Conduct all monthly safety training and run reports on Alchemy.
· Hold monthly meetings with partner(s) to review Workers Compensation cases
· Manages and administers worker’s compensation claims.
· Serves as a liaison between employee and worker’s comp carrier.
· Work closely with human resources, assist with accident reporting/reports and addressing any questions and issues involving workman’s compensation reporting and procedures.
· Maintain up to date knowledge, regulatory changes, and best practices.
Qualifications
· At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, safety role or equivalent education/experience, to include experience managing a Process Safety Management Program
· Ability to maintain confidentiality; uses time effectively; attention to detail; well organized with ability to prioritize and be flexible.
· Must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to be able to communicate well with all levels of management and employees. Must have the ability to interface closely with employees, site representatives, supervisors and above.
· Must have knowledge of Safety regulations OSHA, EPA and DOT at the local, state (CA and AZ) and federal levels.
Education and Experience
· Minimum AA Degree or equivalent
· Any combination of education and/experience that provides the needed knowledge and skills. Experience in transportation or agriculture is highly desirable.
