Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Job Summary

    The Health and Safety Supervisor is responsible for assisting operations personnel with compliance of the Health and Safety policies and procedures in support of achieving the zero-incident safety vision within CEMEX, known as Zero4Life.

    Job Responsibilities
    • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and MSHA Regulations, ensure the safety and wellbeing of all employees and visitors to the facility.
    • Maintenance of the site-specific health and safety policy and procedure manual, and implement the Health and Safety policies for both operational and safety functions
    • Will assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs to ensure that the appropriate training is available to all site personnel
    • Will conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and develop recommendations for actions to prevent injury recurrence
    • Will manage the Transitional Duty/Medical Management program for the location, and support the processing of injured or ill employees through the Workers Compensation System
    • Actively promote Health and Safety policies and communicate all policies and procedures to Operations
    • Serve as company representative with regulatory inspections related to health and safety.
    • Support line management with PTAC, SBO, VFL site visit, and SIC tool deployment and optimization
    • Execution of proactive safety activities (audits, inspections) to prevent injuries and maintain compliance with regulatory standards
    • Support contractor management initiatives including prequalification, site induction training, insurance verification, and other oversight of contractor activities on site
    • Maintain visibility among plant employees and management staff and serve as local subject matter expert on all matters related to health and safety
    • Actively participate in plant-wide, departmental, and tool box meetings
    • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
    • Meet or exceed company safety standards
    • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
    • 1year of health and safety experience in manufacturing or industrial environment that includes program administration
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Working knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and DOT Regulations
    Working Conditions
    • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
    • Must wear protective equipment while at the location
    Physical Requirements
    • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
    • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
    • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
