Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises engineers who develop, implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     A day in the life (a general sampling of the things you may do in a given day):

    • Responsible for managing, communicating, implementing, and enforcing compliance with the Accident Prevention Program (APP) and other accepted safety and health submittals.
    • Responsible for the daily inspection of the jobsite to identify key issues that may affect the safety of the contractors and Government employees.
    • Draft safety plans for projects.
    • Daily meetings prior to work beginning (“toolbox” meetings).
    • Unscheduled inspections of the job site to ensure safety standards are being followed.
    • Review of daily logs documenting compliance with OSHA and other governing laws and regulations.
    • The SSHO shall be dedicated full-time on-site during core business hours.


    Minimum Requirements:

    • Five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/managing general construction (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls), or
    • Five (5) years of continuous general industry safety experience in supervising/managing general industry (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls), or
    • If the SSHO has a Third-Party, Nationally Accredited (ANSI or National Commission for Certifying Agencies - NCCA) SOH-related certification, only 4 years of experience is needed.
    • OSHA 30-hour certification.
